Students' “Rags.”
To the Editor. Dear Sir,—-I was a witness of the students’ “ rag ” in the Square the other night, and I think it is time the senseless exhibitions ceased. It is all very well to talk a lot of hot air about equality and all that sort of thing, but if a party of youths from Sydenham, say, were to carry on the same way there would be a sequel to it in the Court for disorderly behaviour. Students think that they have some special privilege. Nothing can hurt their aura. But the leniency with which they are treated looks mighty like one law for the rich and another for the poor.
Do they think that sort of thing is clever? Because if they do let a humble citizen tell them that it looks a bit more, as if they have a bit of a kink. Trusting that these few remarks will call attention to another inequality in our midst, —I am, etc., RESTRAINED
