HOUSE AT FENDALTON IS DESTROYED BY FIRE.
A five-roomed house at 71, Jeffreys Road, Fendalton, w f as gutted yesterday morning, half an hour after midnight, by a fire which occurred when the family were away for the week-end. The house, which was occupied by Mrs Birch, was a total loss, as were all contents. A detached motor garage and water tank were saved. The Fire Brigade were on the scene, but worked under a great disadvantage, as they had to lay 800 feet of hose to a creek to get water. Insurances on the house and contents were not ascertainable this morning.
