GLIDER CLUB HAS BEEN FORMED IN CHRISTCHURCH
Ihe sport of gliding which has been taken up in many countries has now become established as a new pastime in Christchurch. Six weeks ago, a club known as the Canterbury Glider Club was formed here. It has received good support, and enthusiasts are steadily being enrolled as members.
A machine of the Zoeling type is being constructed by one of the members and it is expected it will be completed shortly. The club expects to have their ground in the vicinity of Cashmere Hills, and the activities will be in nowise associated with the Canterbury Aero Club, although some of the members will be members of the latter club.
The first general meeting of members will be held in the Radio Society rooms, St Asaph Street, next Wednesday* evening, when the club’s operations will be fully considered. Mr P. R. Climie (secretary of the Canterbury Club), and others interested in aviation, will address the meeting.
