PROFESSOR WALL TO RETIRE SOON.
HAS OCCUPIED CHAIR OF ENGLISH FOR LONG PERIOD
The resignation of Professor A.‘ Wall from the Chair, of English. Language, and Literature at Canterbury College, was accepted by the Board of Governors of the college 3 r esterday. Professor Wall has 'been in his present for The resignation takes effect as from February 29, 1932. The- College Committee., recommended ; “That the board high .appreciation of the excellent ~*seyrvicc Professor Wall has rendered to The
college during the thirty-three years he has held this chair, and its sincere regret that the state of his eyesight compels him to tender his resignation.” In moving that the clause be adopted, the Chairman of the Committee (Mr C. T. Aschman) said that he was sure that the motion would not be regarded as merely a formal appreciation. The thirty-three years service was something which could give Professor Wall cause to be pround, and it was a period which had given the college every satisfaction. The resignation was all the more regrettable because of the reason given by Professor Wall for wishing to be relieved of his duties. The recommendation was adopted.
