ATTEMPT TO WRECK ‘ TRAIN PROVES ABORTIVE
(Received February 24, 11.50 a.m.) BRISBANE, February 24. An abortive attempt was made to wreck a mail train carrying shearers near Barcaldine. The fishplate bolts were removed and the dog spikes drawn. Shearing is in full swing at Longreach and Barcaldine. The strike has been declared off in the Blackall and Cunnamulla districts.
