CITY OF NORWICH LODGE MEETING HELD. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., Lyttelton, was held on Tuesday evening last, when N.G. Brother J. B. Gilder presided over a large attendance of members. Four members declared on the sick funds and one member declared off. Accounts amounting to £ll3 10s 8d were passed for payment. One new member was initiated into the lodge. A circular letter was received from the Prov. Grand Master, Brother H. W. Ryder, in reference to the District Earthquake Relief Fund, to which it was decided to donate £lO 10s. The agenda for the coming district meeting was discussed, and it was decided that the delegates appointed to that meeting be given a free hand to vote. The district bal-ance-sheet and auditors’ report were also received, as well as a copy of the proposed amendments to the district rules. The election of deputies to the district meeting to be held at Duvauchelle on Thursday, March 12, resulted in P.P.G.M.’s Brothers W. C. G. Taylor, F. E. Sutton and P. T. Wells, and P.G.’s Brothers G. C. Taylor and J. H. Flynn, and N.G. Brother J. B. Gilder being appointed. It was decided to recommend to the district the adoption of the latest ritual. The members were reminded of the visit to be made to the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge next Monday evening. Receipts for the evening totalled £2OB 16s Id. New Cycling Record. The Lyttelton Amateur Swimming Club will hold the events which were to have been held last Saturday, tomorrow. There were good entries for the Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club’s events held at Corsair Bay last evening. Results:—Junior 25yds—-B. Weastell 1, R. Madden 2, O. Davis 3. Senior 25yds— J. Gilray 1, O. Webb 2, M. Pullar 3. Open 50yds—O. Webb 1, J. Gilray 2, R. Madden 3. Dive—O. Davies 1, B. Weastell 2, J. Gilray 3. School Picnics and Sports. Pupils of the Lyttelton District High School will hold a sports meeting at Corsair Bay to-day, in place of the annual picnic. A number of senior pupils of the Southbridge District High School will be entertained to-day, by the pupils of the Lyttelton District High School. A tennis tournament and cricket match will be the main attractions of the day’s programme. A party of 200 adults and children from the Springfield district held their annual picnic at Corsair Bay On arrival at Lyttelton they were conveyed to the bay by motor launches, and during the afternoon excursions were held to the outer harbour. Ocean Yacht Race. The ocean race for yachts, which had to be abandoned a fortnight ago owing to the wind dropping, will be re-sailed to-morrow afternoon. The race will start at 2 p.m. The course will be somewhat different. Instead of racing from Lyttelton to Pigeon Bay, the yachts will proceed from Lyttelton to Port Levy, via the whistling buoy. Borough Rates. Yesterday was the last day for paying rates before the imposition of .the 10 per cent penalty. The Town Clerk, Mr F. Hobbs, announced last evening that there was £3OO outstanding. Presentation. At the conclusion of a series of swimming races held last evening at Corsair Bay Baths by members of the Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club, the president, Mrs F. E. Sutton, made a presentation of a crystal vase, on behalf of members, to the club’s handicapper, Mr T. Perry, who was recently married.
