DARING THEFT FROM SYDENHAM HOUSE.
PLACE BURGLED WHILE OCCUPANTS WERE THERE. To bre&k into a house while the occupants were there and steal £lO from a handbag which had been left in a bedroom was the daring escapade of a thief recently. The victim was Mrs F. M. Tanner, 34, King Street, Sydenham. Mrs Tanner and several others were in the kitchen, only two rooms removed from the bedroom, at the time of the theft, but no sound was heard. The thief must have made certain that all those inside the house were occupied, for he apparently took his time on the job. He chose a bedroom at the front of the house for his attempt, and gained admittance by forcing open the window. The handbag was lying on a duchess and from it he took ten £1 notes. He disturbed one or two other articles in the room, but did not explore further.
