WEDDINGS.

Hennessy—Harper. A pretty wedding was solemnised at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Phillipstown, recently, when Melba, daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Harper, Randolph Street, Woolston, was married to Leslie, son of Mr and Mrs A. Hennessy, of Dunedin. The Rev C. A. Fraer officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a sleeveless frock of white satin, the skirt being flared and ankle-length. Her veil of white tulle was arranged under a wreath of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of Christmas lilies and carnations, mingled with pink rosebuds. The bridesmaids were Miss Iris Harper and Miss Myrtle Pullan (niece of the bride), who were dressed alike in shell pink lace frocks and pink hats. Their bouquest were composed of pink and mauve flowers. Mr C. Hennessy attended his brother as best man, and Mr E. Harper was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at Dixieland. The marriage was celebrated at St Canice’s Church, Westport, recently of Vera, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Wall, Westport, to Bernard, only son of Mrs Montague and the late Mr Henry Montague, Shirley, Christchurch. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Father Phelan, who also celebrated the Nuptial Mass. As the bridal party entered the church the Wedding March was played by Miss Maisie Atkinson. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely frock of shellpink georgette, with a full overdress of fine lace, made with a tight-fitting corsage. The fully-flared skirt fell in soft folds to the ankles. Her beautifully embroidered veil formed a train and was held in place by a bandeau of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of pink and mauve sweet peas. Miss Erna Wall attended her sister as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of buttercup georgette made with a lace yoke and long, tight sleeves, ending in wide cuffs of frilled georgette. Her hat was of soft felt to tone, and she carried a bouquet of lemon antirrhinums. Mr A. Turnwald, of Christenurch, was best man. After the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained a number of relatives and friends at the Elite tea rooms. In the evening a dance was held at the residence of Mr P. Wall, at Tauranga Bay, the old home of the bride’s ily. Later Mr and Mrs B. Montague left by private car for the Franz Josef, the bride wearing a smart ensemble of wine celanese and a musquash coat, the gift of the bridegroom. Breward—Reid. The wedding took place on December 31, 1930, at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Plymouth, of Muriel Jane, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs W. G. Reid, Baring Terrace, New Plymouth, and Alfred, eldest son of Mr and Mrs 11. Breward, Christchurch. The officiating minister was the Rev J, D. M’L. Wilson, Mr Hay being the organist. The bride wore a charming anklelength frock of shell pink crepe de chine and silk lace. Her beautiful shell-pink Brussels net veil, worn to form a train, was held in place with a cluster of orange blossom at each ear. A bouquet of pale pink flowers completed the bridal toilette. The two bridesmaids, Miss Dorothv Breward, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Lavinia Newman, cousin of the bride, were frocked alike in cornflower blue floral georgette, with flared skirts falling in points to the ankles. Their hats were of blue crinoline straw, and they carried bouquets of autumn-tinted flowers. Master Donald Barclay, godson of the bride, was wearing a dainty suit of primrose satin. The bridegroom was atieuuvd by Mr G. Head (Christchurch), with Mr Thornhill Cooper (Wellington) as groomsman.

After the ceremony a reception was held at Kawaroa Park Bungalow. The bride’s mother, Mrs Reid, wore a frock of beige silk, with a hat to match. Mrs Breward, mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of lido blue celanese silk, with a hat to tone.

Later Mr and Mrs A. Breward left by car for their wedding tour, the bride travelling in a frock of rustbrown celanese, with a hat to match.
