THE BANK OF N.S.W. INCREASES RATES.
NEW CHARGES FOR TELEGRAPHIC TRANSFERS (United Press Assn.—By Elects Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 5, 9.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 5. The Bank of New South Wales has announced that it will buy and extransfers on London at £lls, Australian pounds, for each £IOO in London, and it will sell telegraphic transfers on London at £lls 7s 6d (Australian) for each £IOO required in London. Other usances will be altered in accordance with these basic rates. The new rate which the bank quotes is an advance of £6 10s on the buying side and of £6 7s 6d on the selling side, compared with the rates fixed by the Banks Conference, to take effect in October last. Other banks have not yet moved their rates.
