ROAD WASHED AWAY BY FLOODS ON COAST.
(Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH. January 5. There was a big flood in the Termakau River yesterday, due to heavy rain at Otira, where 61 inches fell. The river burst through into the* old channel near Aickens, causing serious damage. Nearly five chains of road were washed away alongside the railway. It is estimated that the road will be closed to traffic for three or four weeks. The Grey River was also heavily flooded, but no damage has been reported so far. *
