MANY BOYS ATTEND Y.M.C.A. SUMMER CAMP.
Oil Saturday some thirty additional boys went into the Y.M.C.A. summer camp at Wainui, making a total of ninety boys who have been in camp to date. The general secretary, Mr A. J. M’Eldownev, was in camp with the boys on Saturday and Sunday, and was delighted with the progress made in the camp since last year. The storeroom is a most handy addition, while the flooring in the tents and in the dining hall adds greatly to the convenience of the camp.
With such glorious weather the boys are having a wonderful time, and real camping activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, tramping and overnight camping are indulged in to the full Time has also been taken to prepare the boys for their camp tests in struction has been given in swimming life-saving, handling of boats first aid etc. On Januarv 2 the campers had an excursion to Akaroa, staying there until the departure of the Maori for Lyttelton. On Sunday a number of parents visited the camp and enjoyed having their lunch under the cool shade of the lovely old trees. In the morning a camp service was conducted bv Mr D. Morning and evening pra; - ers are conducted every day, and usually consist of a short prayer and a five-minute talk suited to the occasion Next Saturday a party of about forty will go into camp, the majority of them being boys who have been nble to go through the generosity of the Rotary Club. On that day the members of the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A. will visit the camp.
