MEAT TRADE. SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, January 3. The weekly quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meats, based on actual sales of wholesalequantities of carcases of mutton or lamb, or quarters of beef delivered to the Smithfield market, and (or) ex London stores, have been compiled as follows by the Quotations Committee, Smithfield. To arrive at equivalent ship values, rid per lb should be deducted from the prices quoted below. Quotations are average for the week, and are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk cf shipments now on offer:— Prozen Mutton.

Bank of Blew Zealand Report. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following- advice from its London office as at the close of business last week:— Frozen meat—The market for wether mutton is depressed owing to the absence of demand. There is a moderate demand for ewes. There is only a poor demand for lamb. Lower prices are expected in the near future. The demand for beef is fair. Trade generally is affected by the holidays. Wethers, light 4§d to old per lb, heavy 4?,d to 43d. Ewes, 3d to 32d per lb. Lambs, 2's lOd to 103 d per lb, S’s lOd to 10id. 4’s lOd to 10£d, seconds 9d to Did. Ox hinds, 4£d to 5d per lb, fores Sid to 33d. Cow hinds, 4d to 4*d per lb, fores 3d to Sid. Dalgety and Co.’s Report. New Zealand frozen lamb—The market is weaker. The demand is fair. Quotations are:—North Island, 28-361 b Did, 36-421 b Did, second quality 83d. New Zealand frozen mutton—The market is weaker. The demand is limited. Quotations are:—North Island, 4S--561b 4id, 56-641 b 43d, 64-721 b 4id, 4S-641b 3 id. New Zelaand beef—The market is unchanged. The demand is better. Puotations are:—New Zealand prime 8x hinds s id, fores 4d. Argentine chilled hinds 6id, fores 35d. New Zealand pork—The market is weaker. The demand was improved by the change in the price. Quotations are:—English porkers, SO-lOOlb lOd, New Zealand porkers, SO-lOOlb 7’d, 1001201 b 6d. Australian lamb—The market is unchanged, and the demand is moderate. 2S-361b g.a.q.
