CHRISTCHURCH TEAM BEATS BULLER SIDE. (Special to the “ Star.”) WESTPORT, January 3. The visiting Christchurch cricket team proved too strong for the Buller representatives, winning - by an innings and 19 runs. Scores:— CANTERBURY.

North, Otago, resulted in a draw, play being abandoned at 4 p.m. owing to rain. In their first innings. North Otago made 209 (Zimmerman 70, Blakeley 30). Southland made 284 (King 53, Tapley SS). Bowling, Zimmerman took six wickets for 54. In their second innings North Otago had three down for 165 Zimmerman 62 not out, Blakeley 33 not out).

The North Canterbury Association’s matches resulted as follows: Seniors—Eyreton 118 (J. Ashby 33, R. Bennett 29, A. Cherry 21, F. Best 10) met Woodend 9S (T. Gibbs 31, D. Nixon 30, E. Little IS). Bowling for Woodend, R. Ballinger took five wickets for 4 6 runs, A. Smith two for 10, D. Nixon one for 10, T. Gibbs one for 25. For Eyreton, IT. Carter took six for 34, G. Cherry three for 30, M. Cherry one for 24. Junior B—Rangiora 87 (Hawkins 37, Mahoney 11) lost to Fernside 113 (F. Minchington 30 E. Bailey 21, W. Francis 16). In their second innings Rangiora were disposed of for 22, giving Fernside a three-point win. Bowling for Fernside, F. Minchington took five wickets for 2 runs, and C. Minchington three for 13. For Rangiora, Hawkins took five for 2S, Steele two for 28 and Mahoney one for 22. Eyreton 126 (H. Pearce 53 retired, C Higginson 34 retired, B. Carter 16) for seven wickets, defeated Amberley 97 (L. Blair 33, W. Boyce 17, Ford 16) For Eyreton, Carter took five wickets for 45 runs, Pearce three for 12. For Amberley, Boyce took ono for 24, Hadler two for 10.

SUB-ASSOCIATIONS' SHIELD

The final match for the sub-associa-tion’s shield will be commenced at Hagley Park on Wednesday at 10.30 a.m. between teams representing the Malvern and Suburban Associations.
