TOWEL-SPOILT COMPLEXIONS.

“ Nowadays almost every screen star’s post-bag contains letters from admirers asking what is the secret of a perfectly smooth and dainty skin,” a film actress told me recently. “ Apart from the correct use of a towel, I have no secret. “ Many a skin, once soft and dainty to the touch, gets harsh and rough, and the weather is blamed in consequence. Yet in reality, how often the cause is due to inperfect drying after washing. Far too many women, and especially girls, work too hurriedly over the drying, and cream and powder while the skin is still moist. A coarsening then results.” Another valuable hint dropped by this favourite of the screen, was how 7 to use a towel correctly. “ Personally,” she continued, “ I always pay particular attention to the choice of my towels. I find the soft, fluffy kinds suit my skin better than any other. I do not go in for a very thick tow 7 el, nor yet one that is rather thin. For me, the medmm-weight towel is the best, for there is no tendency for it to draw down the facial muscles, and so leave the skin loose and sagging. “ Then in wiping my face, I never attempt to force the drying by using a dow r nw 7 ard movement. I always wipe upwards towards the forehead, using light, even strokes, decreasing the pres sure as the moisture is absorbed. “ In screenland efficent drj’ing of the forehead is highly important, otherwise, when we come under the camera lens I every mark or line shows up. “ When drying my forehead I always start in the middle and pass outward to the temples and ears; I do not rub towrards the middle of the forehead at all, but allow the towel to slide lightly over the skin, here in bringing it into nosition for the outward movement. This, I find, strengthens and keeps the forehead and brow free from lines.” A Way with Wrinkles. “ If you have a tendency to wrinkles at the corners of the eyes, you can go a long way towards effacing them by proper use of the towel. “ First, place the hands beneath the towel and gently dab the skin for a second. Then select a fresh and dry part of the towel and work with a light, rotary movement at the corner of each eye. “If there is a wrinkle under the lower lid, I hold the cheek firmly a little from the line and, with the tips of the fingers still under the towel, press lightly up and down the line, principally up, and make little circles of massage from the line outwards across the face towards the ears.”
