CITY RESIDENT HAS FLAGS FOR A HOBBY.
People passing along the Harewood Road frequently have their attention attracted by the sight of a flag pole in front of a house and bearing lines covered with gay bunting signals. The house belongs to Mr W. Davis, whose hobby is flags. Yesterday morning the flagpole bore three Japanese flags in honour of the anniversary of the capture of Port Arthur by the Japanese from the Russians during the Russo-Japanese War. On every notable anniversary the pole is covered with flags, generally with some suitable signal message* On New Year’s Day Mr Davis flew a greeting to all who might pass. Among his collection he has t-wo of the fish-shaped flags used during certain anniversaries in Japan. These, says Mr Davis, always attract attention.
