BRILLIANT SUNSHINE FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
Again to : day holiday-makers were favoured with brilliant sunshine, with the result that the city streets were all but deserted, people preferring the cool of the country or the seaside to the heat of the town. From early morning a continual stream of cars headed off for the country. The Plunket Shield cricket match at Lancaster Park, and the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s summer meeting both drew large crowds. The rail wavexcursion to Otira and the trains running to the Prebbleton and Timaru sports were all crowded. There were many visitors to the Canterbury and binwood bowling greens ' for the matches there, while the marine excursion to Akaroa was very well patronised.
