FAILED TO REPORT ON LEAVING GAOL.
MAN CONVICTED FOR BREACH OF PROBATION
On a charge of failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation, James Gallagher, a labourer, aged thirty-four, appeared before Mr_E. D. Mosley, S.M., at ‘the Magistrate’s Court, to-day. Fie pleaded guilty.
Chief-Detective Carroll said that twelve months ago Gallagher was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence again within twelve months if called upon, a condition being that he should pay the costs of the prosecution, 255. He had previously been convicted for breach of probation and sentenced to imprisonment. He was released on November 7, and the present breach was for failing to report to the probation officer on his release. His term would expire in six days. The accused was convicted and released on probation for a further three months from January 8, a condition being that he pay the 25s within twenty-one days. Found Drunk. Arthur Gorham was fined £1 'and costs for being found drunk in Madras Street. He had been previously convicted.
