HINDENBURG CALLS FOR UNITED FRONT
ALL MUST HELP FACE COMMON DANGERS. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 2, 10.45 a.m.) BERLIN, January 1. President von Hindenburg's New Year message for the first time includes a vigorous demand for revision of the Young Plan, which is “still casting a dark shadow over Germany’s future.” The evacuation of the Rhineland was only the fulfilment of last year’s hopes. More energy must be infused towards real disarmament, not only as an act of international justice to Germany. but also as the surest means of securing universal peace. Regretting that internal differences were tending to tear the nation apart and to frustrate the Government’s plan for united efforts against common dangers, he said that only the hope of overcoming the unexampled economic distress was that the people must rise above obstinate internecine quarrels, business men. labour leaders and all patriots joining in a common effort to face the threat to upset the whole of the moral and social foundations of the nation.
