BUILDING SLIGHTLY DAMAGED BY FIRE.
A fire in which slight damage was done took place on Wednesday evening in a four-storey building at the corner of Hereford and Manchester Streets. owned b\ r the Methodist Church. The fire originated in the offices of the Victoria Insurance Cornpan 3-, on the ground floor, and spread to a cellar beneath, occupied by the Dominion Boot and Shoe Agency, of which Mr C. 11. Franklin is manager. Slight damage was dqne to the building and to the contents of the insurance office and the boot agency. A certain amount of damage was also done in the suites of offices in the floors above by heat and smoke. The building is insured for £15,000 in the Atlas office and the stock in the cellar for £2OOO in various offices.
