THEFT OF GOLD WATCH ALLEGED AGAINST MAN
Two young men, Jack Hands, a salesman, aged nineteen years, of Palmerston North, and Alfred Arthur Stanley, a labourer, aged twenty-four years, of ICaikoura, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning. Hands was charged that on or about November 21 he stole a gold wrist watch to the value of £7 10s, the property of Stewart Dawson and Co., and Stanley that between November 21 and December 7 he received from Hands goods to the value of £9 19s 6d, knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. Both accused were remanded to appear on January 5. Chief-Detective Carroll said that Hands was on remand from Ashburton to appear at Wellington on January 6. There were 1 several charges against him to be cleared up.
