THIEVES GET HAUL FROM BATHING SHEDS.
VALUABLES STOLEN AT DIAMOND HARBOUR. Money, jewellery and clothing were stolen at Diamond Harbour yesterday, when a thief, or thieves, made a clean sweep of the bathing sheds. Several large sums were taken. The first indication that someone had been going through the clothing in the sheds was discovered by a Lyttelton man when he went in to get dressed. He put his hand in the inside pocket of his coat and discovered that his wallet had been removed. There had been £7 in it. Some loose silver was also missing from a pocket of his trousers. Other Victims. He at once raised the alarm, and other bathers went to see* that their clothing was all right. One man discovered that nearly £5 had been removed from his clothing, and several others lost sums.
