FIFTY HAVE LEARNED TO SWIM THIS WEEK.

The number of swimmers in Christchurch has increased by fifty since last Saturday. This is the result of the “ Learn to Swim ” week which concluded to-day. This result is considered to be satisfactory by officials of the Canterbury Swimming Centre, considering the weather conditions which have prevailed. Bleak winds with cold days have prevented the use of cold water baths and it has only been possible to carry on instruction at the- tepid baths.
