The Optimistic Adventurer.
r 1 ~"" "" A Woman's View.
ACHIEVEMENTS like Oscar Garden’s flight from England to Australia, the optimism of the first adventurers is eventually translated into the conviction of the average man that a regular air route from one side of the world to the other is a reasonable expectation. If a girl can do it alone and then a man with practically no air experience, the more ambitious of the rank and file of the daily increasing number of certified air pilots will soon begin to reason that they can also do it. But this will not detract from the merit of the first flights. Of the pioneer successes Kingsford-Smith’s and Hinkler’s taught the value of scienflfic preparation, Amy Johnson’s the value of courageous perseverance, and Oscar Garden’s the value of optimism.
