LORD LONSDALE TELLS OF HEAVY TAXATION
IS NOW UNABLE TO HELP HOSPITALS. LONDON, November 19. “At one time I used to spend £30,000 a j r ear on hospitals,” said Lord Lonsdale, England’s most famous sporting peer. “Now, owing to taxation, the income from one part of my estate, which used to be £120,000 a ye'ar, is only £2OOO, and I have contributed nothing to hospitals.” Lord Lonsdale predicted that increased taxation would be disastrous to hospital charities. “The time will come when we shall have nothing to give them,” he said.
