LETTER TO BYRD IS RETURNED " UNKNOWN."

It would seem that Rear-Admiral R E. Byrd is not so well known in the United States as New Zealand is given to believe, states the Dunedin correspondent of the “Star”. In September last, an Otago firm sent the explorer a personal letter directed to his New York office address. Not finding him there, the postal authorities readdressed the letter to Rochester, where again the Rear-Admiral could not be located, so the Post Office in America liberally stamped the envelope “Unknown” and returned it to the sender, who received it by the mail yesterday morning.
