At tile wool sales 9762 bales were offered, including 1122 bales of New Zealand wools, and about 7470 bales were sold. There was a splendid selection of Merinos, and a poor lot of greasy cross-breds. There was a steady demand, and the withdrawals were mostly of inferior wools. Opening rates were fully maintained. The Bradford tops market was weaker and quotations irregular. Quotations are: 645, 23Jd; 60’s, 22d; 56’s, 151 d; 50’s, 13d; 46’s, 102 d; 40’s, lOd. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. of New Zealand, Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office: "The auctions opened here today with a large attendance of buyers. Compared with closing rates of the last sales we quote: Greasy Merino, best Id lower. Greasy Merino, average Id lower. Half-bred, 50-56, Id to I2d lower. Cross-bred, 4S-50, lid lower. Cross-bred, 46-48, 12d lower. Cross-bred, 44-46, 12d lower. Cross-bred, 40-44, I2d lower. Cross-bred, 36-40, lid lower. Slipe generally Id lower. Scoured Merinos and scoured crossbreds Id to lid lower. There was good competition.'* Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office, dated November 27: “The London wool sales continue with good spirit and broadening competition. The opening rates of the series were fully maintained. Yesterday 92 per cent of the offerings were sold.” * NEW ZEALAND FRUIT TO GO TO CONTINENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 28. The Fruit Export Board has announced that proposals put forward by the chairman, Mr Brown, providing for the marketing of New Zealand apples on the Cqjitinent, will be adopted this season. Arrangements are being made for all fruit bound for the Continent to be forwarded to the Hook of Holland under an optional bill of lading which will enable the board's representative to divert the fruit to the United Kingdom markets should the demand in those markets warrant the diversion. The fruit sent to the Hook of Holland may be sold on forward basis or may be forwarded to any of the Continental centres on a consignment basis. The fruit will be sorted after arrival in Holland, according to variety.
