FEILDING RACES.

FIELDS FOR TO-MORROW.

(Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, November 28. There appears to be no diminution in the number of horses accepting for southern North Island meetings, and the card presented for the first day of the Filding Jockey Club’s spring meeting to-morrow is stronger numerically than it has ever been. For the Hurdles and Feilding Stakes, particularly, the fields are well above the average. At latest advice the track was drying after rain, but the going is almost certain to be soft. The following is the programme:— Noon. WAT TUX A HURDLE HANDICAP, of 150 so vs*. One mile and a half and

Best recent performers are Democratic, Disrank and Royal Damon, and of the three the last-named reads the best, for he won in convincing style at the Waverley meeting. Democratic’s Trentham form was, good, but at the difference in weights Royal Acre, who fell when going well in his one start at Trentham, would appear to have 'better prospects. So does his stablemate, Otairi, who gave a much cleaner exhibition in a school at Awapuni on Tuesday. Disrank’s form at Riccarton was not his best. A light-weight possibility is Cloyne, who was recently confidently backed at Napier Park. The likeliest appear to be Royal Damon and Otairi. 12.40 p.m. AORANGI TRTAL PLATE, of 150 sovs; six furlongs. FIRST DIVISION.

In the first di\dsion of the Aorangi Trial Plate there is likely to be plenty of support coming for Laconic, Tar Baby and Baskier, and it is probable that these will supply the winner. However, the chances of Seneschal, Attar and Myola cannot be passed by, especially the last-named, if the going is heavy. The best may be Laconic and Tar Baby. SECOND DIVISION.

In the second division form is not so well disclosed, and it looks the easier to win. Pewa’s three thirds in succession suggest a better effort, and his prospects are preferred to Futurist’s. Ilinewai. Onepai and Black Duchess may also be in demand. The likeliest appear to be Pewa and Hinewai. If the race is reduced to a onedivision contest the favourites may be Laconic and Tar Baby.

1.25 p.m. FEILDING CUP HANDICAP, of 500 sovs. One mile and a quarter.

The field for the Feilding Cup is unusually strong and the issue is extremely open. Merry Damon is ruled out on his Riccarton running, but Grecian, My Own and Lady Pam are much more insistent in their appeal. Grecian has improved out of all knowledge recently, and he is going to be very hard to beat. My Own meets him at 81b better terms than in the Otaio Plate at Riccarton, so that there is actually little to choose between them here. Lady Pam may not be suited by the going. Shrewd, back to his form of a month ago, would be a danger, and with Gray in the saddle he will be well supported. He has been working well and the soft going will assist him. Two who should perform with credit are Grecian and My Own. 2.5 p.m. FEILDING STAKES, of 400 sovs. Five furlongs.

The club has seldom had such a galaxy of stars to contest the Feilding Stakes, and the race is arousing keen interest. The three-year-old brigade has not provided a winner since 1917, but this year the division is particularly strongly represented, and one of the number, in Gesture, will be a hard proposition to settle. She reads much better than Autopay, who beat her in the Stewards’ Handicap at 271 b better terms, and more serious rivals would appear to be Supremacy and Lady Quex, both of whom will be at their favourite distance. Best supported may be Gesture and Supremacy. 2.45 p.m. KOWHAI HACK HANDICAP, of 175 sovs. One mile and a distance.

Nightmare won so decisively at Devin that she is to be in strong demand in the Kowhai Hack Handicap. The few extra pounds and the couple of furlongs further should not trouble her. Most serious rivals for her will probably be Joyspear, Miss Hastings, Grand Jury, and Auckland Gas, all of whom will be suited by the distance. Miss Hastings and Auckland Gas have very powerful finishing runs, and this will assist them. A pair who may do as well as any are Nightmare and Auckland Gas. 3.25 p.m. FLYING HANDICAP; of 250 sovs. Six furlongs.

The Flying Handicap presents its chief difficulty in the evenness of the field. Acora and Broad Acre are decided possibilities, but First Money, who appears to be a more reliable sort now, reads to have a better chance. He has been galloping attractively since Levin. Royal Ruler would need to be given careful thought if the going should firm up, and so would JECeddar, if started here, doon Song will have to make a big improvement on his Levin form, but Just an Idea and Cuticle are lightweight prospects. Good efforts should be coming from First Money and Acora. 4.5 p.m. FITZROY HACK HANDICAP, of 150 sovs. Six furlongs.

Fancy will probably take a wide range in the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, but Calapat, Royal Routine, Projection and Arrowhead will have plenty of friends. Calapat’s third to Tobaccoland and Fitzquex at Trentham, at his only start this season, was a particularly good effort, and points strongly to his prospects here. A pair among the light-weights who may prdfve troublesome are Monalof and Acco. In an open contest a pair who shotild show out are Calapat and Projection. 4.45 p.m. KIWITEA HANDICAP, of 225 sovs. Seven furlongs.

The field for the Kiwitea Handicap is likely to provide another even race, and there are several who may take a part in the finish. At the top of the list Bold Front and Malayan are preferred, but just below them are another pair in Maui and Tenacre, who are quite capable of extending them, and the last-named, in view of his good win at Otaki, will not slip by the attention of investors. Of the others the versatile Make Up and the lightly weighted Arisus may provide the stoutest opposition. Paiko’s Levin form would not give him a chance. A likely pair are Tenacre and Bold Front.

TAKAPUNA RACES. TO-MORROW’S FIELDS. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, November 28. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s spring meeting will open at Takapuna tomorrow. and with the line fields engaged in the various events there should be some excellent racing. The club has decided to make an experiment by selling 5s totalisator tickets. The windows will be situated on the outside, but patrons of the lawn will be able to go through and purchase 5s tickets if they so desire. In addition, 10s tickets will be sold on the outside and also in the enclosure. Previously £1 was the lowest price of tickets on the lawn, but people on the inside were allowed to pass through to the outside to purchase 10s tickets. The weather promises to be fine and the track should be in'good order. The following is the programme:— Noon. MELROSE MAIDEN STAKES, of 200 sovs.; seven furlongs’.—Prince Amans, Skimmer, Loterie, Loving' Cup, Smithfield, Chief Joy, Camp Princess, Howick, Cross Stitch, Top Star. Tui Mint, Day Form, Spring Song, Valmarie, Illuminagh. Merry Lu, Karangapai, Royal Survey, Catimes, Great Emblem, Royal Menu, Holly holm, Operatic, Gay Idea, Escalus. A field of twenty-five is carded for the opening event, the Melrose Stakes, and the majority have little to commend them. Karangapai showed a lot of pace as a two-year-old last season, and at the recent Waikato spring meeting finished second in the Trial Stakes. He is engaged in the Takapuna Plate later in the day, in which he is said to be a sure starter. The stable has another entered for this race, Gay Idea, who ran third in a fivefurlong event at the Whangarei spring meeting earlier in the month. Gay Idea has been working well at Ellerslie since then. Operatic ran two good races at the Avondale autumn meeting last April, finishing second to Sir Mond in a seven-furlong event each day. This gelding has also been going along the right way in his track essays. Chief Joy started on three occasions as a two-year-old last season, running second over five furlongs and 43 yards at Te Aroha. He was well supported for the Plunket Nursery at Trentham, but something went wrong with him just before the start and he could not show his best. His stable companion, Hard Words, won. Chief Joy has been galloping well at Takanini recently. Camp Princess showed a lot of speed when she finished second in the Spring Stakes, six furlongs, at Whangarei, and should be improved. Of the others, Merry Lu, Holly Holm and Illuminagh may appeal most. The chief selections may be Operatic, Chief Joy and Camp Princess. 12.45 p.m. TIRI HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP, of 225 sovs. One mile and one furlong.

Another large field has been accepted for in the Tiri High-weight Handicap Glena Bay was third in this race last year, and won on the second day. He has not shown much ability to gather speed in the early part of his races over hurdles recently, but he finishes on. Luminary won the Orewa Highweight Handicap at the Takapuna summer meeting. He has plenty of pace and is reported to be galloping well at Cambridge. Claremore showed ability on the flat prior to winning a double over hurdles at the last Auckland spring meeting. He has not raced since then. Sleepy Sol was a good second to Llanore over a mile at Whangarei recently and is a likely sort. Glenstar showed that he was not far from his best when he finished first in a hurdle race at the Waikato spring meeting, but failed to draw the weight. He used to be good on the flat prior to being put to hurdling. Kairuri won this race last year, and has been placed in several high-weight handicaps since then. He has been working well recently. Stonehenge, Ruby Dawn and Respirator look the best of the others. The public may give most support to Luminary, Claremore and Sleepy Sol. 1.30 p.m. BOROUGH HANDICAP, of 300 sovs. Seven furlongs.

Of the fifteen accepted for in the Borough Handicap, four—Nancy Lee, Flying Prince, Lady’s Boy and White Wings—are engaged in other events later in the day. The first two are in the Alison Cup and the last two in the Cheltenham Handicap, so it is difficult to sum up the field. However, all of them have shown good form during the spring, and if started they will have to be seriously considered. Sir Russell, who has been operated on for throat trouble, has not had much racing recently, but he put up a creditable performance in finishing third with 9.9 in the Tauwhare High-weight Handicap, one mile, at Te Rapa last Monday week. Mosque was second to Black Maire in the Claudeland High-weight Handicap, one mile, at the same fixture, and when right is capable of going a good seven furlongs, while he won the Te Aroha Cup, one mile and a quarter, a couple of seasons ago. Ti Tree has not raced this season, but when at her best is very smart. Tenakoe was fourth in the open sprint on the first day of the Waikato spring meeting, Prince Val, Pegaway and Kingfield being in front of him. That was a good effort and as he showed at the Auckland autumn meeting last season that he could go a good mile when he won the Nelson Handicap, he is likely to have support. Cynthia N has been working well, while Big Bertha won over a mile at Whangarei, beating among others Grand Tea and Llanore, who scored on the second -day. Honiton may have most friends of the others. Most money is likely to go on Tenapoe, Mosque and Ti Tree.

2.15 p.m. TAKAPUNA PLATE, of 500 sovs. Seven furlong-s.

Havaspot, after his easy victory in the Linwood Handicap, seven furlongs, at Riccarton recently, will have most friends in the Takapuna Plate. Awamutu is very fast, and won over, seven furlongs last season. Volimonds best performance this season was in running second in the Sylvia Handicap, seven furlongs, at the Pakuranga Hunt Club’s meeting last August. Miss Albyn scored over six furlongs at the "Waikato Hunt meeting, which was her first success. Sir Mond, who is also in the Ponui Handicap, won over seven furlongs at Whangarei recently, while Gold Lily was second to him. Tetrachate beat Sir Mond in the Marsden Hack Handicap, six furlongs, while Subeditor was successful in a six furlong race at the same fixture. King Ford was a speedy juvenile last season. Jaeldy Karo beat Rosshire in the Maiden Plate, seven furlongs, at the Avondale spring meeting, and at Whangarei won the Hikurangi Hack Handicap, of similar distance. He was galloped on the next day, and if he has recovered he should go well. Rosshire was third at the recent Waikato meeting and has been galloping well since then. The best support may be for Havaspot, Sir Mond and Jaeldy Kara. 3.0 p.m. ALISON CUP HANDICAP, of 500 sovs. mile three furlongs and forty

Corinax is at the head of those engaged in the Alison Cup. He has not raced for some time and though he has been working well at Ellerslie he may be in need of a race. True Blood, after his dual success at the Waikato meeting a fortnight ago, will have friends. Nancy Lee’s best performance over a distance was in winning the Spring Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at the last Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting. She has a previous engagement in the Borough Handicap. Sargon raced well in Australia, winning up to a mile and a quarter at the Randwick spring meeting recently. He was a bit sore at the New Zealand Cup meeting, but he galloped well during the week at Takanini. Royal Doulton will not be a starter as she has been scratched. Eager Rose won' up to a mile and three furlongs last year, and on a dry track should go well, taking a line through her track work. Flying Prince ran a good race in the Waikato Cup last Saturday week, when he was just beaten by True Blood. Desert Glow may be the best of the remainder. The favourite division may be Sargon, True Blood and Eager Rose. 3.45 p.m. CAMBRIA HANDICAP, of 300 sovs. For two-year-olds. Five furlongs.

The Cambria Handicap is an event for two-year-olds. Tea Chat, who won the Welcome Stakes at Riccarton, has pride of place, and he will have plenty of support. Baroscope showed winning form at Avondale, and Princess Bede won at Trentham. The last-mentioned two will be coupled. Hoihoma was just beaten in her last start, the Tamahere Stakes, five furlongs, at Waikato. Bonny Lea has been galloping well at Ellerslie, and she looks like improving on her fourth in the Musket Stakes at the Auckland spring meeting. Chief Jewel, who is a stable mate of Tea Chat’s, may be the hardest to beat of the others. The bulk of the investments will probably go on Tea Chat, Hoihoma and Bonny Lea. 4.30 p.m. PONUI HANDICAP, of 225 sovs. One mile and one furlong.

Claremore, who is at the head of the Ponui Handicap, is also engaged in the Tiri High-weight, while Sir Mond, Principal and St Ames have been accepted for in other races. If reserved, the three last-named should go well. Curraj ong and Manawhenua (who won at Gisborne recently) may make most appeal of the others. The most sought after may be Sir Mond, Claremore and Manawhenua. 5.15 p.m. CHELTENHAM HANDICAP. Of 325

The programme will conclude with the Cheltenham Handicap, the chief sprint event of the day. Paganelli, if

the going is dry, should run well. Leitrim is very speedy and with 8.1 would only need to be at his best to have a good chance. Lucy Rose was third at the Waikato meeting, while Lady’s Boy won at Whangarei, as did White Wings. Royal Tea has been going along nicely since running second to Lady’s Boy at Whangarei,. while ; Awamutu, if started in this race instead of the Takapuna Plate, will have to be respected. Treasury is also a speedy sprinter. The chief fancies may be Paganelli, Leitrim and Royal Tea. complimentary tickets. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, November 27. At a conference of racing and trotting clubs of South Auckland to-day a resolution was adopted agreeing to a drastic reduction in the issue of complimentary, luncheon and afternoon tea tickets.
