Social and Euchre Parties. The socials and euchre tournaments | promoted by the Sports Club at Preb-I bleton continue to be well patronised.. There was a larger attendance than usual at the last function Mr Reg, Woods and his band played for the dancing. Mr J Smith was M.C. Vocal items were given by Mr Lawrence. On Mondav an enjoyable “gift’ evening was given by the Hope of Christchurch Lodge in the Hastings Street Hall in honour of Miss Myrtle Restall, whose marriage takes place next month Many useful presents were received by the bride-elect. Bluebird Fireside Circle. The 1930 session of the Bluebird Fireside Circle, connected with the East Belt Methodist Church, came to a close recently, when a banquet was given in the church parlour. The evening passed pleasantly with musical items, games and competitions. The musical items were given by the Misses Dorothy Steel and Buff Dixon. On Saturday last the Circle was entertained by Mrs Blair and the Lyttelton Bluebird Fireside Club at the Methodist Parsonage, Lyttelton. An enjoyable evening was spent. Miss Nancy Foster had arranged a programme, consisting of instrumental, vocal and elocutionary items, games and competitions, which were greatly enjoyed Instrumental items were given by the Misses Nancy Foster. Pickrell, who is leaving Hanmer Mr Hopkins, who presided, in making a presentation of a writing case and clothes brush, referred to the loss the community would sustain by Pickrell’s departure, and wished her success in her new sphere. The Redcliffs Croquet Club continued their series of flag five hundred evenings on Tuesday at the Arcade, Redcliffs. i There was a good attendance, and a pleasant evening was spent.
