BEEF AND LAMB RECOVER IN PRICE.

SMALL ENTRIES MARKED YESTERDAY’S SALE. Entries in all the important sections at Addington yesterday were smaller than they have been for some time. The last three sales saw phenomenally large entries, and as a consequence prices fell. There were .recoveries yesterday in the beef and lamb sections, but mutton merely held its ground, and stop"* sheep were definitely worse. The cattle entry was remarkable for the fact that there was nothing entered from outside the province. At sales for many months past, Otago, Southland, or the North Island have been represented. The entry was of good quality, and the prices received worked out at about £1 a head above those of last week. Fat sheep were in considerably smaller liumlxrrs than they were at the previous sale. At' the start there was a fairly keen demand, with prices distinctly above those ruling last week, but as the sale progressed, there was a slackening in the inquiry, and prices receded to the level thy reached Fiat week. There was no appreciable change >n price. The quality of the offering was not up to the standard of that of last week. Store sheep were yarded in average numbers, and included large lines from Marlborough and the Chatham Islands.

The attendance of buyers was small, and the interest in the sale was most half-hearted. Values receded by Is 6d to 2s a head. The fat lambs which were yarded were an exceptionally good lot, but were not competed for very keenly. Probably on account of the shorter entry, there was a recovery of a shilling a head. 7at Cattle.
