INTER-PROVINCIAL BOXING TOURNAMENT.
The Christchurch Sports Club yesterday selected the team to represent Canterbury in the inter-provincial amateur boxing* tournament against Otago for the Waironga Shield. The tournament is to be held in the Civic Theati'e next Tuesday evening, commencing at eight o’clock. The team is as follows: —Flyweight, J. Johnston; bantam. W. Dnvey; feathers, p. Hawes and R. Overend; light. R. Baird; welter. G. Forward; middle, E. Pocock; heavy, C. Gardner. The Otago Association’s' final selection is:—Fly-weight. M. Anderson: bantam. J. Richmond; feathers, W. G. Leckie and C. Buckley; light. H. Drew; welter. G. Hart; middle, X J. Watt; heavy. W. Watson. As the majority of the contestants are title holders an intei'esting evening's entertainment seems assured. The Otago team will arrive on Monday evening next. The following officials have been appointed to control the tournament: — Referee. Mr J. D. Hutchison; judges. Messrs C. P. Agar, E. J. Corcoran. W. E. Mouldev and C. S. Thomas; timekeepers. Messrs P. C. Crooke and R. L. Kennett; glove and scales steward, Mr N. M'Gilllvray; competitors’ steward. Mr G. Cox; announcer. Mr A. M’Donald-Smith house manager, Mr C. H. Tavlor, Jun.
