Tramway Election.
To the Editor. Dear Sir,—-Whatever may be the merits of the recently published official review of the Christchurch Tramways its appearance a day or two before the elections is—to treat the matter kindly—indiscreet. The booklet does contain an interesting account of tramway development in the city, but that is almost lost sight of alongside the booklet’s outstanding feature, the first-rate advertisement it gives to the sitting members. Starting off with a prominent photograph of the chairman, together with a neatly worded account of his services to tha public, the first dozen pages set forth tha talents and virtues of all the present members. Had it seen the light of day at some other time it would have been received without suspicion as an entertaining little history of one of the city’s chief enterprises, but under the circumstances it shouts a little too pointedly about the achievements and policy of the present administration.—l am, etc., SURPRISED.
