VUHEN WOMEN are bereft of their * ’ husbands’ company by the high pursuit of Masonic mysteries what consolation have they? Once the world of men was so little known to women in the half-light of their widowhood that the Masonic excuse was just another tale told in the morning. Then, too, the tpjnple of the craft might possibly have been —must I withhold my sacrilegious thrust for fear of secret angencies—a place “where the women cease from troubling, ant: the wicked are at rest.” Now these midnight absences do not trouble wives whose minds are too busy to fret about fancied neglect. On the other hand they rather like their husbands to be members of a lodge. It gives them social contacts. Perhaps it may sound paradoxical and somewhat slangy, but so long as these secret withdrawals keep their husbands “in the picture” wives encourage them. Nevertheless the home is a more important place than the Masonic temple. B.E.S.
