There has been fail* business on the Stock Exchange since noon ytesterday, with values maintained for a few of the more popular lines, but values have been weak and irregular in others. There is not nearly the keen demand for bank shares which existed a few weeks ago, and at this morning’s call both English and Scottish and Bank of New South Wales wtere marked down by buyers, the highest bid for the former being £5 Is 6d and for the latter £3l. 1 Australian securities seemed easier. Goldsbrough Morts were offered at £1 Is 9d, Australian Glass at £1 7s 6d, and Electrolytic Zinc preference at 18s 6d. All the prices werte lower.
