FORBURY PARK TROTS

To-morrow’s Programme.

*aie Forbury Park Trotting Club’s spring meeting will be commenced tomorrow and concluded on Saturday. The club has received a capital' response from owners, all the fields being of good size, and there should be some fine racing. As usual, a large contingent of Canterbury horses will be racing at the meeting. The following is the programme for the first day:— 12.15 p.m. ROSLYN HANDICAP an harness), of 200 sovs; unhoppled trotters, class 5-45; one mile and a half. Biddy Parrish scr Welcome Guy scr Great Glee scr Wally Bingen scr Merrijigs scr Rapture 12 Patch wood scr Hydro 60 Pattie Bingen scr Silurian 84 Todd Lonzia scr Of the eleven acceptors for the mile and a half trotters’ race, eight are on the limit. The three-year-oid, Todd Lonzia, if he races up to his best track form, should be very hard to beat, but it must be remembered that the youngster has had very little race experience. Welcome Guy has im proved a good deal, and he also should race prominently. The finish may see Welcome Guy, Todd Lonzia and Merrijigs finishing in that order. 12.55 pm PROGRESSI V Je. HANDICAP (in harness). of 200 sovs. Class 3.42 One •mile and a half. Baby Joan scr Sunny Morn scr ' Black Watch scr Sister Rose scr j Ballade scr Scotty Bingen scr I Herod scr Willie Derby scr Rimma Great Chenault 12 Harvester scr Location 24 <adame Lydia Pointer 24 Locanda scr Locanda Lu 24 ekara scr Black Watch and Herod both com;nd themselves off the limit, as does .llie Derby, who is now settling down * race more solidly. Lydia Pointer has 3cn gradually improving, and Great Kenault, who won at Greymouth, is an mproving pacer. Herod, Willie Derby nd Great Chenault may fill the places. 1.40 p.m. ST KILDA HANDICAP (In saddle), of 200 sovs. Class 2.18. On© mile. Brook Pointer scr Liberal 24 Gold Chimes scr Mountain Milo Minto 12 Chimes 24 Mac Dillon 24 Tommy Direct 36 There is a small field for the mile saddle event, and these races seem to be going out of favour with owners, except for slow classes. Brook Pointer is a good pacer in saddle, and probably will start favourite. Milo Minto is also a speedy miler, but Mac Dillon is not usually seen in such events. The southern pacer. Liberal, is quite at home in saddle, and he and Brook Pointer should be the best. 2.20 p.m. SPRING HANDICAP (in harness), of 200 sovs. Class 3.0. One mile and a quarter. Automatic scr Sunranes scr Belle Lorrimcr scr Red Shadow 12 Elite Bingen scr Awaiti 24 Erin’s Chance scr Real Girl 24 Holly Bank scr Sonoma Laddie 4S Lydia Pointer scr Alva Lass . 60 Radio scr Danny Boy 72 Stella Bingen scr There are some smart and improving pacers in the slow mile and a quarter. Belle Lorrimer, if she begins well, should race prominently off the limit, and so should Lydia Pointer, if reserved for this event. Holly Bank has recent winning form to recommend him. The three-year-old Red Shadow, if he gets a good run, is well placed on 12 yards, and Real Girl showed at Greymouth, on the second day, that she was on the improve. Red Shadow, Real Girl and Holly Bank have most to recommend them, and they may finish in that order. 3 p.m. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP (in harness), of 500 sovs. Class 4.32. Two miles. Avenger scr Steel All 12 John Noble scr Erin’s Fortune 12 Morning Sun scr Great Logan 24 Sunny Bob scr Muriel de Oro 24 Wrackeen scr Grand Light 24 Vrikitoa 12 In a field of eleven C. S. Donald’s , Morning Sun and Sunny Bob, 11 probably contest favouritism with in’s Fortune. Avenger is too erratic be supported with confidence, and n Noble will require to show con-

siderable improvement to have any chance. Wrackleen will see out the distance, but she will find the opposition possibly too strong for her. Arikitoa is racing well just now, but there is a doubt about his beginning as well as "ome of the others. Steel All raced v. .11 at Addington, and looks as though he is improving. Great Logan has plenty of speed, but may be troubled by the distance. Muriel de Oro has not been racing in her best form of late, but Grand Light is not out of it, handicapped at 4min 30sec, as he was nominated for the New Zealand Cup. It should be a fine contest, with Donald’s bracket, Erin’s Fortune and Steel Atl prominent at the winning post. 3.40 p.m. DOMINION HANDICAP (in harness), of 250 sovs. Unhoppled trotters; class 4.46. Two miles. Ambition scr Surprise Fifa scr Journey 48 Nelson's Boy 24 Stanley T 60 White Satin 24 Len Wood 96 Trampcrisp 48 The two-mile trotters’ race has a field jof eight, and it looks a very open event. Ambition did not race well at Addington early in the month, but will now be racing over the course on which she is trained. Fifa, who is on the limit, was responsible for good races in each of her starts at Addington, but they were mile and a half events. She may find the final half-mile troublesome. Nelson Boy did not race up to expectations at Addington, but he is in good form at present. White Satin seemed to be a trifle unlucky in her races at Addington, while Trampcrisp is a much-imprcved trotter, who can stay well. Surprise Journey won early in the month at Addington, and on the last day put up a fine performance in finishing third to Trampcrisp and Olive Nelson over a mile and a half. He is reported to favour a short journey, but he finished like a stayer in his last effort. The sensational Stanley T. will have another chance of exhibiting his powers, and if he should go away well he is certain to race prominently. Len Wood will require to be greatly improved to have any chance. It looks like being a very keen contest. Surprise Journey, White Satin and Stanley T. may finish in that order. 4.20 p.m. CAVERSHAM HANDICAP (in harness), of 200 sovs Class 3.30. One mile and a half Alva Lass scr Sodium scr George Rey scr St George scr Kelp scr Captain Wrack 12 Lady Antrim scr Milo Minto 12 Roddy scr Lily Harold 2 4 The fast mile and a half event should produce one of the best races of the day. There is a smart lot on the limit. George Rey, despite his poor showing at Wellington, is working so well that he must be given a good chance. Lady Antrim has plenty of speed, and if the pace is slow over the first half of the journey she may finish well. Sodium is troublesome at the barrier, but with a good beginning the big pacer should race prominently. Captain Wrack met with interference in his race at Addington, but he has not been working quite as well as he was a month ago. Milo Minto does not stay, but Lily Harold is a very fine pacer, who will be near the leaders at the finish. George Rey, Sodium and Lily Harold look best on the handicap. 5 p.m. DASH HANDICAP (in harness), of 250 sovs. Class 2.48 One mile and a quarter Delightful scr El Direct 12 John Jinks scr Jolly Chimes 12 Nelson d’Oro scr Free Advice 3 6 Proud Dillon scr Logan Hanlon 36 Sunchild scr Talent 36 For the fast mile and a quarter it will be difficult to find a pronounced favourite. Delightful, who has not done much racing this season, won very decisively at Methven early last month, and is very partial to the distance. John Jinks has speed enough to win. but his vagaries at the barrier are against success. Nelson de Oro is brilliant, and the Oamaru pacer is certain to receive support. Sunchild raced badly at Addington this month, and so did El Direct. Free Advice looks best of the back-markers. The finish may be between Delightful. Nelson de Oro and Free Advice.
