“ SMITHY’S ” NEXT FLIGHT WILL BE MATRIMONY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 25. “ Oscar Garden here wishes to speak to Kingsford-Smith,” said New Zealand to-Australia over the radio-telephone at the opening ceremony to-day. “Is he there? Can you arrange that?” “ One minute,” came the answer. Then a little later: “ Kingsford-Smith speaking.” “ Hullo, Smithy! ” said Garden. “Hullo, kid! How are you, Oscar? I did not expect to hear yOu so soon again.” “ I hear you very clearly. We had a nice trip. I think it is a very great honour for me to speak to Australia, especially to you.” “ That is very nice.” “ By the way’, I met Stannage here. He sends his regards, and hopes to be at the wedding.” “ Oh, thanks. How is everybody in New Zealand?” “ Oh, very well. By the way, we heard on the boat coming over that you were going to do a Pacific flight again. Is that true?” “ You can wash that out. I don’t know anything about that. You can tell them that the only flight I contemplate is the matrimonial flight.” “ Anyway, best luck, Smithy ! ” “ Good luck ! Good-by'e ! ”
