Seeking Markets In Latin America.
PRINCE OF WALES emphasised **■ the need for more efficient British salesmanship in Latin-American countries when, at a meeting at the Mansion House he inaugurated the Anglo-Spanish and SpanishAmerican Institute of London, of which he is president. He said: The promotion of more efficient salesmanship in these countries is an obvious national requirement and duty, and it is for that reason that I have very gladly consented to become president of this institute. The chain of cultural institutes proposed to be established in this and in Spanish-speaking countries is a wonderfully adequate provision for the promotion of mutual knowledge and understanding of our respective nations. The British Empire Trade Exhibition in Buenos Aires next spring (which the Prince will open) is the first great British exhibition to be heid abroad, and the significance of the fact that.it is being held in Buenos Aires will not be lost upon you. It is a clear indication of the great importance which we in this country attach to the South American markets. The urgency of the problems involved in lessening the handicaps to our trade is very great. Every effort that can be made to adjust the nature of the goods to market needs, and to lower costs, and to improve general marketing and other conditions for our export trade can only meet with the sympathy and support ot everyone concerned.
