UNION CLUB. The committee of the Union Rowing Club met last evening; present—Messrs W. (1. Atack (chairman), D. Lee, IV. Greenway, A. Stubberfield, W. Whittington, K. Velvin. W. Duggan, Iv. Brown, C. Cooper, F. Booth, L. Byers, I'". I>. Kesteven, F. Rogers, and S. Dunn (honorary secretary). It was decided to purchase one set of , oars and two set 3 of sculls to replenish the plant. An application was received from the Canterbury Rowing Club for the loan of the rowing machine. The request was granted. The Race Committee reported that crews were very fit for the Louisson Fours*, to be rowed this evening, and that the entrants for the Life Members* Cup double sculls, to be rowed on December 2, were showing excellent form. Shinwell, has announced the composition of the Coal Mines National Industrial Board appointed under the Coal Mines Act for the hearing of disputes between the coalowners and the miners. Some difficulty and delay haft been caused by the refusal of the Mining Association, the Federation of British Industries Association, the British Chambers of Commerce, and the Confederation of Employers’ Organisations to make a nomination. Benevolent Association. Brothers Lange, Percy and Luxton reported attending the jubilee function of the Anchor Lodge. Brother Burgess reported attending the executive meeting of the Otago and Southland and Canterbury Grand Lodges, held at . Timaru. A hearty vote o£ welcome was accorded to the visitors.
