(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, November S 3. There was a fair yarding of fat sheep at the Ashburton yards to-day, but a poor demand, prices showing a drop from 2s 6d to 3s all round compared with the Tinwald sale last week. The highest price for ewes in wool was 21s Id secured by A. V. Barrett (Mayfield), while Mr Kingsbury (Wakanui) topped the market for shorn ewes, which brought up to 17s lOd. The best prime, wethers realised 23s lOd. Sales were: Fat Ewes.—6 at 12s 7d. 7 at 10s Id, 31 at 10s l,d, 17 at 8s lOd, 17 at 6s 7d, 2 at 10s 4d, 2 at 19s lOd, 4 at 21s Id. 3 at 12s lOd, 1 at 19s 7d, 6 at 21s, 2 at 18s 4d, 5 at 18s 7d, 5 at 16s Sd, 4 at 15s Id. 6 at 11s Id. (Special to the "Star") AUCKLAND, November 23 A few sales were recorded at this morning's call, but there was little animation in the bidding, ’P" quiries were more general in the banking section. English and Scottish were offered lower at £5 9s, Unions at £e 17s 6d, and Nationals at foils. For Commercials 16s 9d was the best offer Breweries eased further with sellers at £2 3s, and £2 0s 9d was the best offer. Burns, Pliilp shares were available at £1 12s. and a buyer offered Its for Consolidated Bricks. For Tl aipa Collieries, now in liquidation, 6s was offered. There was more movement in the market following the first call, and after a number of completed sales had been notified there vas slight improvement in the bidding at midday. English and Scottish Bank shares were marked down still lower, being offered at £5 6s. New Zealand Insurances firmed up again, and after a sale at £2 3s 6d, there were still buyers at £2 3s. For New Zealand Breweries £2 Is was offered.
