The Opawa-Hillsborough Burgesses’ Association has written to the Town Planning Committee of the City Council, intimating that Mr A. W. Minson, owner of property bounded by Opawa Road, Vincent Place and Richardson Terrace, is prepared to transfer to the council a section of land on the Opawa Road frontage of his property, and containing one-eighth of an acre, as a site for a library, provided the council will exempt the Vincent Place frontage of the property from road-widening. Mr Minson is also prepared to dedicate .the land necessary for road-widening on the Richardson Terrace frontage. The committee reported at last night’s meeting of the council that Vincent Place was very little used, as it finished at the railway. Its present width was 33ft, and it had a length of approximately 7h chains. The committee recommended that the Burgesses’ Association be informed that the transfer of the library site constituted a subdivision and that therefore it would be necessary for the land for widening Richardson Terrace to be dedicated to the city. If this were agreed to, the council would apply for exemption froifi widening Vincent Place under the provisions of the Public Works Act. The recommendation was adopted.
