Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe, accompanied by Lieutenant J. C. Elworthy, R.N., A.D.C., left last night for Wellington. Miss N. Forsyth, of the staff of the Christchurch Girls’ High School, has been granted leave of absence on account of ill-health. Mrs M’lnman. who has been the guest of Mrs R. Volckman, “Braeburn,” Geraldine, for a few weeks, has returned to Christchurch. _ Miss K. Thomas, of Wellington, arrived this morning by the ferry steamer and is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs R. Lalley, of Richmond Avenue, Sumner. Dr and Mrs Redman, Nelson, Mr and Mrs L. Davie, Havelock North, Mr and Mrs T. Merewether, Wanganui, Mr and Mrs F. W. Ritchie, Wellington, are guests at the Clarendon Hotel. Miss A. G. Merton, 8.A., has been ap pointed to a C grade position on the staff of the Christchurch Girls’ High School as from the beginning of ; the first term next year.
