At an inquest in Dunedin into the death of James Riley, aged 60, a married man, whose body was found on the rocks at St Clair beach on Sunday morning, the Coroner remarked that Riley had apparently slipped and fell on the rough, stony beach. He became disabled, and was drowned. A verdict was returned of found drowned.
