Telford, lessee of Phar Dap, in addition to running the horse in the Melbourne Cup, intends to start him in -the Caulfield Cup, which will probably have a demoralising effect on the fields. The trainer of Nightmarch, in the circumstances, has cancelled arrangements for sending Nightmarch to Melbourne for the spring carnival, and instead he will be sent back to the Dominion for the Christmas meetings. Cook will ride Amounts in the Caulfield Cup, and later in weight-for-age engagements. He may ride Veilmond in the Melbourne Cup. Melbourne Cup scratchings include Paquito, Gay Crest, Ruffler, Troilus and for all Flenn’ngton engagements, Limerick and Arikiwai.
