OBITUARY.

WILLIAM BUCKLEY. The death occurred yesterday at New Brighton of William Frederick M’Lean Buckley, at the age of sixtynine. The eldest son of the late lien George Buckley, M.L.C., he went to England to study, and, after gaining his degree at Oxford, was called to the English Bar. On his return to New Zealand he engaged in farming at Dunsandel for many years. Mr Buckley was interested in the breeding of stock, particularly draught horses. He was a well-known polo player at one time, and owned many good ponies, besides hunters and harness horses. For some time he was a member of the Board of Governors of Lincoln College and a member of the Board of Agriculture. He was also a committeeman, and sometime chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Club. He married Jessica Rose Roberts, who died many years ago. For the last seven years Mr Buckley had been living in retirement at New Brighton.
