CIVIC RECEPTION FOR BRITISH FOOTBALLERS.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, August 20. The British Rugby footballers were accorded a civic reception at Sydney, to-day. The Lord Mayor, Mr E. S. Marks, and Mr R. Weaver, Minister of Mines, heartily welcomed them cn behalf of the city and the Government. Both were confident that the visit of the Englishmen would help to unite Australia still more closely to England. They had noted with interest the great stir the games had caused in the Dominion and predicted that feeling would run just as high there.
Mr J. Baxter, the manager, and Mr F. D. Prentice, captain, made suitable responses.
