Although more sales have been reglsi tered op the Stock Exchange during the past twenty-four hours, the tone of the market is still quiet, with recent values barely maintained. At this, morning's call, Banks generally seemed weak, though any changes in quotations were only trifling. A sale of Robinson Ice Cream at £1 3s 6d, 2s 3d lower, registers the disappointment of the market that negotiations for the proposed local merger have not been finalised. After offering £99 15s steadily for some time without any response from holders, buyers for per cent Government Stock tlii3 morning advanced their offers to par for the ‘3B, ’39 and ’4l issues. This brought an offer to sell a parcel of '3B’s at £IOO 10s. This upward movement followed sales in Wellington on Tuesday at par. At the noon call a parcel of 4i per cents was offered at £IOO 5s and one of 65 per cent, 1933, at £99 10s. After a sale at £2 11s of New Zealand Breweries, more were circulated at the same price.
