Awapuni missed the snow experienced in the surrounding districts in the past few days, and the tracks were :n wonderful order this ujoming* even the plough being fit for use. Save in one instance all fast work was conducted on the trial grass, which was fast. There is every indication that the course proper will be firm on the day. Gran Chaco and Calamart were first ito work, the pair running six furlongs on the trial grass in lmin 21 l-ssec. Mister Gamp had a shade the better of Archeria, with Poppy Day beaten off at the close of a mile, the last seven furlongs taking 3min 35 2-ssec. Glenrossie, who had the advantage in the weights, was a neck in front of Evening Hero at the end of seven furlongs run in lmin 36sec. Llyn Dhu was going better than Corneroff, with Magic Land three lengths back at the end of seven furlongs, taking lmin 33 l-ssec. Otairi was going nicely at the close of a five furlong gallop with Desert Lad, to whom he was according weight, in lmin 5 l-ssec. Skyrider and Malahat were together, with Brilliant Light a length and a half away, at the end of a mile in lmin 47 3-Ssec. The first half took 54 l-ssec. Braggart and Prime Moutoa were together after recording a goocj performance by running five furlongs in lmin 5 1-osec. Robbie’s Mistake was a shade in front of I‘lymestrason at the end of a mile run in lmin 45 3-osce, the first half taking 52sec. The former was on the inside running throughout. War Zone jumped smarter than Ivilorell, but the pair were together at the end of a seven-fitrlong task, the last six being run in lmin 20 2-osec. Fiery Comet finished better than Dobbin at the end of seven furlongs, the last five taking lmin 7sec.

Sporting Chance secured a break on Great Lady at the jump out, and was never caught, completing the task by running live furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec. Blue Paper jumped off ahead of Moutoa Treasury to lead into the straight. The latter then drew alongside to beat his companion home in lmin 17 2-ssec for six furlongs, a good gallop. Air Force, unaccompanied, left seven furlongs behind in lmin 2Sseo, going within himself. Coon Song ran home from the five furlongs post in lmin ssec. A Hunting Song gelding moved attractively. Potoaform, the only one to gallop on the plough, required lmin lOsec to negotiate five furlongs. Master Lu, the only visitor to hand, did two strong rounds on the No. 1 grass.
