M.P.’S BOOTS ATTEND GREAT RACE MEETING.

BUT OWNER TRAMPED THE DIVISION LOBBIES,

(Special to the “Star.”) LONDON, June 5. An M.P.’s boots attended the Derby yesterday, while the member himself dutifully tramped through the division lobbies of the House of Commons. The unlucky, member was Mr Michael Marcus, the Labour member for Dundee. Mr Marcus, who is a Scottish solicitor, stays at a hotel with some fifteen of his Labour colleagues in the House of Commons. As usual on Tuesday night, he put out his boots to be cleaned, and his colleagues were amused to note that he appeared at breakfast yesterday morning wearing carpet slippers. The rest can be told, in Mr Marcus’s own words. “ My boots must have been taken by some people who had stayed at the hotel for the night on their way to the Derby. I imagine my boots attended the great race meeting.”
