CONFERENCE IS HELD ON DEFENCE SCHEME.
SKELETON FORCE WILL BE MAINTAINED IN N.2. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, July 29. A conference was held this morning between the Hon J. G. Cobbe (Ministe rof Defence) and representative Territorial officers on consider the recommendations made by the G.O.C. for the maintenance in New Zealand of a skeleton defence force in place of the present system. The Minister stated subsequently that the proposals submitted were thoroughly considered, and that the officers assured him of their co-opera-tion in carrying the scheme drawn up.
