DEEP SEA FISH ARE SCARCE ON ACCOUNT OF ROUGH WEATHER.

Australian Oranges PlentifulMeat Prices Remain Unaltered.

Except in the fish market, there has been little alteration in retail prices this week. Fish, on account of the very rough weather during the last few days, is scarce and generally dear. Meat prices have not altered. Although beef and mutton quotations have not altered to-day, and remain where they have been for some months, it is unlikely that the present extremely low rates will hold for very much longer. Already in the wholesale market there are signs of a falling oft', and with the cold conditions ruling now, it is likely that feed will become shorter. Quotations are: This week. Owing to the very rough weather of the last few days, fish of all sorts is scarce. Deep-sea fish are extremely scarce, and most sorts are dear. Quotations are:— This week. Last week, per lb. per lb. s very fine Australian navel oranges, Which are selling at reasonable prices. The first shipment of Island tomatoes to come to Christchurch this season is now in the shops. They are good. Mandarines are also very plentiful tor day, and are cheaper than they have been for a number of years. All seasonable vegetables are in good supply, and have not altered materially in price since last week. Quotations are:— • Cabbages, this week 3d to 4d; last week 2d to -Id.
