HARRIERS.
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB HAS SUCCESSFUL RUN. There was an attendance of about forty at the Christchurch Harrier Club s run on Saturday, held from the residence of Mrs G. Pascoe, 195, Antigua Street. The run liters were divided into three packs. J. D. Pascoe was in charge of the laying of the trail. The runners found the paper difficult to follow in places, but the run was most enjoyable. The results of tho runs-in were as follow;—• Slow Pack. A. J. M’Naughton 1 E. A. Sayers 2 A. N. Thomas 3 Intermediate Pack. A 11. Candy 1 L. C. Richards 2 11. S. Bowden 3 Fast Pack. R. 31. Barrel- 1 R. A. Barrer 2 H. Watson 3 Mrs Pascoe later entertained the runners at afternoon tea. The club captain, Mr K. Cookson, returned thanks on behalf of thte runners. Next Saturday the club championship will be held over the 10,000 metros course at Cashmere. Combined Run. A combined run of thte Presbyterian and Baptist Harrier Clubs was held on Saturday afternoon from the Spreydon Baptist Church, a largo field turning out. Three packs followed the excellent trail laid by A. G. Baigent and C W. Eagle, which led for a distance of eight or nine miles through Spreydon, Hoon Hay and Halswell, covering a portion of the Canterbury championship course. The trail included plenty of fences, hill work and water, and provided excellent training for the coming championships. " A smart run-in over the last half-mile resulted in the following placings;— Fast pack—M. Robinson (Presbyterian) and A. Park (Baptist) (equal) 1, C. F. Jones (Baptist) 3, J. Walton (Baptist) 4. Intermediate pack—L. Milner (Baptist) 1, L. Fulford (Baptist) and G. S. Harrison (Baptist) (equal) 2, M. F. Foate (Baptist) 4. Slow pack—M. P. Jowctt (Presbyteria.n) 1, T. Strong (Presbyterian) 2, R. 11. Scott (Baptist) 3. Kaiapoi Club. The Kaiapoi Harrier Club held an eight-mile run on Saturday afternoon, A. 3>. ICane being first home, with R. Graham sec-ond and A. To«er third. Anglican Club. On Saturday afternoon eighteen members of the Anglican club were the guests of Mrs L. Dunkley, 89, Feudalton Road. Tho trail, laid by It. Abbott and R. Fuller, led for about six miles through Fendalton, Bryndwr, Waimairl and Iticcartoh. In tho run homo tho placings were:— Slow pack—A. Andrews 1, J. Dunkley 2, K. Gallagher 3. Fast pack—G. Broadway 1, H. G. Holmes 2, F. Glilett 3. At the conclusion of the run, the members were entertained at afternoon tea by their hostess. Next week’s run will be from St Peter’s Church, Upper Riccarton. Methodist Club. The Methodist Club held its run on Saturday from the residence of Dr and Mrs Simpson, Puriri Street, Riccarton. The runners followed a good trail of about eight miles, laid by C. Ell and L. Smith, io addition to a small part of the Christchurch Harrier Club’s trail, which was followed by mistake to Lincoln Road. Altogether about ten miles was covered. The run in (of about two miles) resulted: F. Simpson 1, P. Alcom 2, N. New bold 3. After the run, the captain expressed the thanks of the club to the entertainers. Next week the championship will be held at New Brighton, from the residence of the Rev O. S. Pcarn.
